Take Me to the River was created almost entirely through the movement of water and pigment across the paper — no brushes, just water poured from a watering can and concentrated color poured from bowls. The painting was built by tilting, flowing, pooling, and allowing the materials to find their own paths.
The result feels less like a traditional landscape and more like the experience of standing beside moving water: shifting reflections, submerged color, erosion, current, and the constant push and pull between control and surrender.
This piece grew from years of returning to rivers in my work — not simply as scenery, but as places of memory, grounding, and change. Here, the process itself became part of the subject. Water wasn't only being painted; it was doing the painting.
