Inspired by the fleeting sight of an autumn tree illuminated by the last golden light of evening against a backdrop of dark rain clouds, When Evening Opens captures the feeling of that moment.
Glowing golds, vibrant pinks, warm coral, and deep blue-violet flow into one another, creating unexpected colors, delicate textures, and softly suggested landscapes. An expansive area of untouched white brings openness and stillness to the composition, balancing the rich movement below.
Created through intuitive watercolor pours and the natural interactions of water and pigment, this painting holds both the drama of approaching weather and the quiet beauty of fading light.
